Owner’s Representative
Standing in the owner’s place across architects, contractors, consultants, and institutional stakeholders — holding scope, budget, schedule, and original intent together from concept through completion.
Private advisory for heritage, philanthropy & complex projects.
We act as owner’s representative and trusted counsel to institutions, nonprofit organizations, philanthropists, and private clients — holding vision, budget, and intent together on projects of lasting significance, from first conversation through completion.
The practice
Auxilium Manus is the private advisory practice of Alessandro Crocco.
We advise organizations and individuals undertaking complex initiatives involving cultural heritage, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, strategic partnerships, hospitality, and international collaboration.
Most often we serve as owner’s representative: the party that holds the client’s interest steady across architects, contractors, curators, consultants, and institutional stakeholders, so that what is finished is what was intended.
We accept a limited number of engagements at a time and work principally by introduction. Every engagement is discreet, tailored, and grounded in long-term relationships.
auxilium manus — Latin: the helping hand. In an arch, no stone stands alone; the keystone holds the whole.
Areas of practice
Standing in the owner’s place across architects, contractors, consultants, and institutional stakeholders — holding scope, budget, schedule, and original intent together from concept through completion.
Counsel to principals, boards, and executive leadership on complex initiatives, organizational growth, institutional strategy, and long-term planning.
Campaign counsel, fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and governance for organizations we already advise. We work at the level of strategy and leadership, not campaign production.
Supporting restoration projects, museums, religious institutions, hospitality ventures, and cultural organizations through strategic leadership, project coordination, and international collaboration.
We are engaged for judgment rather than volume and take on a small number of projects at a time. We are not a fundraising agency and do not accept execution-only mandates.

Rome — Restoration & Interpretation
Beneath the twelfth-century basilica stands a fourth-century church; beneath that, a first-century Roman house and Mithraic temple. Nearly two thousand years of continuous occupation, stacked in a single vertical section, beneath the most visited of Rome’s minor basilicas.
It is also failing. The baroque coffered ceiling completed in 1715 suffers extensive wood rot, the nave and side-chapel frescoes are in decline, and centuries of paint are lifting from the walls. Meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of the basilica’s visitors leave without any guided understanding of what they have walked through.
The response is a seven-year, three-phase program of restoration and interpretation, undertaken with the Irish Dominican community that owns and stewards the complex — treating conservation and visitor experience as a single problem rather than two.
Auxilium Manus serves as lead project advisor to the initiative, with oversight across the full program — fundraising and campaign strategy, project management, and the coordination of ownership, investors, and institutional stakeholders around a single plan.
Advising organizations responsible for preserving historic landmarks and cultural assets through strategic planning, stakeholder coordination, fundraising, and project leadership.
Advising nonprofit organizations, foundations, and faith-based institutions on strategic growth, governance, fundraising, and the execution of complex international initiatives.
Representative engagements include supporting major cultural heritage and restoration projects, strengthening philanthropic partnerships, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and advancing mission-driven organizations with lasting global impact.
Supporting organizations and private clients with international initiatives requiring strategic planning, institutional partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and long-term execution across multiple jurisdictions.
Other client names are withheld as a matter of practice.
Philosophy
The most meaningful projects are never defined solely by budgets or timelines. Auxilium Manus exists to provide thoughtful guidance throughout that journey.
We believe successful projects combine strategic vision with disciplined execution, while respecting the history, people, institutions, and communities they serve.
